Friends may call at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe on Tuesday from 2 – 8 pm or Wednesday at the church from 11 am until the service time at noon. Vince is survived by his wife Carol of 64 years, his children Bryan (Alicia) of St Clair Shores, David (Arlene) of Carsonville, Sheri (Michael) of Sacramento, CA and Jim (Angie) of New Baltimore. His grandchildren, Ashley (Camerin) Levi, Jonathan and Jacob Troyer, David J. and Cory Troyer, Michael, Micha, Brea and Kennedi Dawson, Brandon and Leah Troyer. Dear brother of Charlene (Tim) Detweiler of Tipp City, OH and Dean Troyer of Kalamazoo, MI
Vincent Troyer age 87, was born in Mio, Michigan and passed away on January 15, 2018. Beloved son of the late Henry and Elizabeth Troyer of Fairview, MI. Vince attended Fairview schools and received his bachelors degree in education from Central Michigan University in 1957. Before attending CMU he served in the US Army and overseas in Germany from 1951 through 1953. Vincent married Carol Miller in August, 1953 and together raised four children. He enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing and traveling the United States with his family. Vince began his career at Bad Axe High School, teaching Industrial arts and mechanical drawing for 32 years before retiring in 1989. In addition to teaching, Vince was JV and Varsity assistant football coach at Bad Axe during the 1970’s and 1980’s. He will be remembered by his students for his no nonsense philosophy in the classroom and always being available to visit & talk. In his retirement years, Vince enjoyed time at his cabin near Fairview and the winter months in Sarasota, Florida with his wife Carol along with frequent visits from his children and grandchildren. He was member of the Bad Axe Presbyterian Church for 50 years and was active in the building of the new church serving as the “Clerk of the Worksâ€. In 2010, Vince and Carol joined the Pigeon River Mennonite Church.
