Funeral services for Virginia will be 11 am on Wednesday, April 27th at the MacAlpine Gage Chapel in Kinde with Fr. Craig Carolan from St. Michael’s Church officiating. Burial will take place at St. Michael’s cemetery in Port Austin. Visitation will be 2 – 8 pm on Tuesday, April 26th at the MacAlpine Gage Chapel in Kinde with a scripture service at 7 pm and from 10 am until the service on Wednesday, April 27th. She is survived by a daughter: Eleanor (Charles) Chapman of Warren; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren and one great great great-grandchild; sister: Gertrude Thayer and many nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her son Philip, four brothers: Florian, Alec, Stanley and Walter Szeszycki and two sisters: Frances Haffner and Viola Ignash.
Virginia Celia Kowalski, age 109, of Kinde, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2016 at Meadow Lane in Bad Axe. She was born in Grindstone on March 8, 1907 to the late Tony and Mary (Horetski) Szeszycki. Virginia went to Ford School where she had to walk four and a half miles each way to school. She owned the All American Bar in Hamtramck for thirty years. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church / Annunciation of the Lord Parish in Port Austin. Virginia moved to Kinde in 1994. She enjoyed working, crocheting, sewing and gardening.
