Vivian’s funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 13 at St. John Catholic Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Ubly. The Rev. Charles Hammond, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Friday from 2:00-8:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:00-10:00 am. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary on Friday at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers, memorials have been requested to Heartland Hospice. Vivian is survived by her children, Joan Jackson of Ubly, Linda Tittjung and her husband, Tony, of Sterling Heights, Virginia Bukowski and her husband, Richard, of Lake Orion, Michael Rumptz and his wife, Linda, of Ubly, Susan Mergl of Shelby Township, Deborah Kulish and her husband, Donald, of Shelby Township; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brother, Chester Leppek; many nieces and nephews. Vivian was preceded in death by one son, Edward; two daughters, Marie Grifka and her husband, Jerry, Patricia Adams and her husband, Luther; son-in-law, Robert Jackson; one granddaughter, Tammy Grifka; one grandson, Jeffrey Bukowski; brothers, Ira Leppek and Tyrus Myzk.

Biography

Mrs. Vivian Marie Rumptz, 99, of Ubly, peacefully went to heaven on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 surrounded by her loving children at the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. Vivian was born on July 24, 1919 in Ruth to the late Frank and Clara (Plevnia) Leppek. She attended the Duda Country School in Sigel Township and St. Mary Catholic School in Parisville for one year where she made her First Communion. She met the love of her life, Clarence, at the Arcadia Ballroom in Parisville. They were united in marriage on Nov. 20, 1937 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2007. Vivian was a parishioner at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly for 81 years and was a lifelong member of the Good Shepherd Christian Mothers Confraternity. She worked at the Ubly Community Schools as a cook, retiring in 1981. Vivian loved her family and cherished all the time she was fortunate enough to spend with them. She loved to cook, bake, playing cards, polka dancing, going on casino trips and traveling with her husband once they were retired. Vivian will long be remembered as a loving wife and mother, and of course for her incredible baked goods
