Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 12, at Cross Lutheran Church, Pigeon. Rev. Timothy Loehrke, pastor will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 9 PM Monday and at the church after 10 AM Tuesday. His wife Margaret Barabas, two children, Barbara (Bob) Dixon of Ludington and Charles Buchholz of Pigeon; two step children, Barbara (Ron) Tedraw and Nancy (Mike) Uhazie; eight grandchildren, seven step grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Preceding him in death are two sons, Richard and Kent Buchholz; six brothers, Ernest, Adolph, Ervin, Otto, Albert, and Larry Buchholz and two sisters, Frieda Buchholz and Meta McKee.
William “Bill” Buchholz, age 94, long time Chandler Twp. farmer died Friday morning, February 8, at Huron County Medical Care Facility. He was born April 4, 1918, at the home where he currently resides in Chandler Twp. to the late Herman and Anna (Schuette) Buchholz. Bill was a 1937 graduate of Pigeon High School and lived in Chandler Twp. all his life. On June 21, 1941, he was united in marriage to Leona Baur at Cross Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death, March 5, 1974. Bill was a farmer, first with his father and then he took over the operation of the farm, retiring in 1973. He was an active member of Cross Lutheran Church, serving on many committees. He was an avid sports enthusiast from being the quarterback on the high school team to coaching little league and managing the church softball team. He enjoyed watching Lions Football with Bobby Lane and the Tigers with Al Kaline. Bill served on the Chandler Twp. Board many years and on the Huron County Mental Health Board of Directors several years. Bill later married Margaret Barabas, at who survives him.
