A Tuscola County farm is getting state help to expand its capacity for locally grown produce.
Dream Again Gardens has been awarded just over nine-thousand dollars through the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development's Farm to Family Program.
The money will pay for washing, drying and refrigeration equipment designed to increase production capacity, make post-harvest handling more efficient and expand the availability of locally grown produce.
Dream Again Gardens is one of 14 recipients statewide - and the only recipient listed in the Thumb region - in the latest round of Michigan's Regenerative Value Chains Grant Program.
The grants target farms using practices intended to improve soil health while helping producers build infrastructure and reach additional markets.
Dream Again Gardens also sells produce at the Caro Farmers Market. State records list the farm as an authorized grower at the market on South State Street in Caro.
The grant program is part of Michigan's broader Farm to Family initiative connecting smaller agricultural operations with local food markets.
