A Millington nonprofit will receive $500,000 in federal funding to expand community-based suicide prevention services for veterans.
Morgan's Place is one of four Michigan organizations receiving grants from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs through the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program.
The Millington organization serves veterans and communities across Tuscola, Bay, Genesee and Saginaw counties.
Altogether, the VA is awarding $2.75 Millon to organizations serving Michigan. Other recipients include the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Volunteers of America Michigan and VETLIFE, each receiving $750,000.
The funding becomes available with the start of the 2027 federal fiscal year.
Nationwide, the VA awarded nearly $112 Million to 191 organizations. The program is designed to bring suicide-prevention resources into communities, including reaching veterans who may not already be connected with VA health care.
