Michigan is making $4 Million available for projects aimed at strengthening rural communities across the state.

The Michigan Office of Rural Prosperity has opened the 2027 Rural Development Fund grant cycle, offering money for infrastructure, workforce and economic development, community facilities and other local needs.

Two levels of funding are available. Community and business development projects can receive up to $100,000, while regional collaborations involving shared services or partnerships addressing multi-county needs can qualify for grants of up to $200,000.

Eligible applicants include local governments, nonprofits, businesses, federally recognized Tribes, schools and colleges, along with regional planning and economic or workforce development organizations.

Projects must benefit at least one eligible rural area in Michigan.

The first step is submitting a letter of intent. Those are due by 5 p.m. Eastern Time on November 2nd.

Program guidelines and application information are available through the Michigan Office of Rural Prosperity.
