Another school district in southern Tuscola County dealt with a threat Thursday.
A student came to the Millington District's Jr./Sr. High School office to report a threat written on a bathroom wall.
"As always, we take all threats seriously and follow the same protocol each time to ensure the safety of all of our students and staff," said Millington Superintendent Lawrence Kroswek.
The district immediately involved local law enforcement.
The Millington Village Police Department was contacted by Kroswek, and they in turn communicate directly with other law enforcement agencies to put in to place the definitive protocols to establish if the threat is or not credible.
"One of the protocols is to put the school building into a lockdown mode while they go through their checklist to gather information and make determinations as to the course of action to be taken," Kroswek explained.
Investigation of the incident determinated the threat was not credible and classes resumed as normal.
"However, let me stress again, there are definitive steps that we and the local law enforcement agencies take to ensure the safety of all students and staff and we will always follow those steps and protocols," Kroswek explained.
The incident in Millington Schools comes on the heals of a threat in the Vassar School District that was discovered Wednesday. And, also found not to be credible, law enforcement officials were on hand in Vassar today as a precautionary measure.
An investigation of the matter is ongoing.
