Huron County Planning Commission gives conditional approval for Deerfield II Wind

The Huron County Planning Commission gave conditional approval to the Deerfield II Wind project, concerning matters that effect property in townships under county zoning. Building and Zoning Director Jeff Smith noted that all the new turbines will be in Huron Township which has its own zoning, the matters before the county planning commission concern expansion of the substation, expansion of the operations and maintenance building and the underground power lines outside of Huron Township. Smith said the firm had sound waivers for adjacent property owners and decommissioning bonds documentation on having funds to remove the infrastructure after its useful life is over. That documentation will be reviewed by the Huron County Board of Commissioners Finance and Legislative Committees before it would go before the full board for consideration.
