Firemen from several departments respond to Richmond Steel Sunday - update

Firemen from four fire departments, along with other emergency personnel were called out Sunday afternoon to Richmond Steel On M-142 near Pigeon. Winsor Township Fire Chief Nick Pavlichek told us when they arrived there was smoke coming from the building. The owner of Richmond Steel had pulled his boat into the structure, and about 15 minutes later a passerby saw the smoke called it in. The 20 foot aluminum boat was pretty much destroyed, but the building basically was just coated with black with soot. An electrical wire near the door was damaged by the heat. Lost was the boat and the fishing gear it contained. It's believed there was an electrical problem on the boat. There was no dollar estimate. Winsor Township Firemen were assisted by Owendale, Oliver and Caseville Fire Department.
