UNIONVILLE-SEBEWAING AREA SCHOOLS IS SEEKING TO RENEW A MILLAGE WHEN VOTERS HEAD TO THE POLLS IN FEBRUARY. SUPERINTENDENT OF THE SCHOOL SYSTEM, GEORGE RIERSON HELD AN INFORMATIONAL MEETING WEDNESDAY NIGHT IN THE HIGH SCHOOL'S AUDITORIUM TO INFORM VOTERS OF WHAT IT IS EXACTLY THAT THE SCHOOL IS ASKING FOR. RIERSON EXPLAINED THE SCHOOL IS NOT ASKING FOR ANYMORE THAN WHAT THEY CURRENTLY RECEIVE, BUT INSTEAD AN EXTENSION ON HOW LONG THEY WILL BE RECEIVING IT...

IF APPROVED BY VOTERS THE MILLAGE WILL BE EXTENDED TO THE 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR WHEN IT WILL BE PAID OFF. BECAUSE IT IS ONLY A RENEWAL OF THE EXISTING MILLAGE IT REPRESENTS NO INCREASE IN TAXES FOR RESIDENTS. WHILE SPEAKING WITH RIERSON HE NOTED THAT A LOT OF THE PROBLEMS THE SCHOOL IS FACING COME WITH THE AGE OF THE FACILITIES. THE SCHOOL WILL BE 33 YEARS OLD THIS WINTER.
