     If you are using a natural tree this holiday season in your home, it's so important to keep it watered. As it dries out, it becomes more flammable and fire can start and spread even more quickly. The video below is from the National Institute of Standards and Technology.    Some of the basics for safety are to choose a healthy, green tree with few brown needles, Trim the trunk and then trim it again. Keep it away from heat sources. Make sure the water level stays above the base of the trunk. Take your tree down before it dries out. That also will make clean up easier as you'll have less needles that have fallen off the tree.
