Funeral Information

Visitation for Gary will take place on Thursday, September 3 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church located at 5034 Bay City Forestville Road, Minden City, MI. A celebration of life is to follow at the Moeller Home at 4614 Snay Road, Palms, MI. Arrangements are being handled by the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Gary is survived by his wife, Linda, and his children: Josh (Pam) Vogel, Derrick (Izabela) Vogel, Megan (Michael) Brown, and Sam (Jennifer) Vogel; and his eleven grandchildren and one great granddaughter; and his siblings Pat McConnachie, Tom (Mary) Vogel, and Kristine (Dean) Roggenbuck.

Biography

Gary James Vogel of Palms, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 28, 2026. He was born on November 6, 1958 to Arthur Vogel and Norma Catherine (Handley) Vogel. He grew up in Palms, Michigan and graduated from Deckerville High School in 1976. Gary had two great loves in his life: family and farming. He started driving tractor as soon as he could reach the pedals and purchased his first cows with his dad and brother after graduating from high school. He attended night classes to learn about dairy farming and cow rations. Gary married Linda Lee Moeller on February 21, 1981. Together, they grew their family and their farm, raising four kids and growing their herd to 2,600 cows. While he found driving tractor boring, he loved the cows and creating something out of nothing. He never hesitated to tear apart a piece of equipment, even if it didn’t always go smoothly the first time. He loved working with kids and sharing his passion for farming with anyone he crossed paths with, coaching on everything from milking to mechanics. The only thing Gary loved more than farming was his family. He enjoyed trips and travels with his family including snowboarding in the winters, camping in the summers and riding dirt bikes. He loved having family around and prioritized traveling to see his kids and grandkids, showing up for all the important occasions in their lives.
