Biography

James (Jim) Louis Koehn age 87 of Harbor Beach MI, passed away August 4th 2026 at Lakeview extended care unit in Harbor Beach MI from medical complications. He was born on April 21,1939 to the late Louis Elmer Koehn and the late Marie Edwards Koehn of Harbor Beach. He could be found playing his “numbers” at local establishments, riding his bike, walking, and driving around town. He was also well known for his welcoming wave as friends would pass by. If you were to catch him purchasing his numbers of the day you might be told a story, a funny joke, or how he just won playing the numbers of your licence plate. He also loved to frequent the casinos. Lucky 7’s, or Triple Diamonds were the slot machines of choice. Jim and Marylee (Facer) Koehn were married on January 23, 1960 at Our Lady of Lake Huron church. His work history started with sailing the Great lakes aboard freighters from Chicago all the way around to Detroit. He followed that up by working in Harbor Beach at Hunter Lumber yard for 32 years. After retirement he continued to work part time for Drive-All manufacturing of Harbor Beach, CPS of Ubly, and the City Of Harbor Beach Parks and Recreation. Jim’s true enjoyment was being a volunteer fireman for 20 years in Harbor Beach- where his 2 sons Chris and Trevor carried on his legacy. His grandson Nathan is continuing on with the Koehn legacy. (Chris) Sandra Koehn also volunteered as one of the 1st female firefighters in Harbor Beach.
