Funeral Information

Funeral Services for Janet will be Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 2 pm at St. John Lutheran Church of Port Hope, with Rev. David Dodge officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be at the church from 10 am until time of services at 2:00 pm. A luncheon will follow at St John’s Lutheran School in Port Hope. Memorials can be made to St John’s Ladies Auxiliary. Arrangements are being handled by the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Memories can be shared at www.RamseyFH.com

Janet is survived by her husband, Rodney Weiss and children Deborah (Dennis) Stephenson of Bad Axe, Cindy Booms (special friend Kevin Cook) of Harbor Beach, Brenda (Brian) Young of Elkton, Rodney (Kelly) Weiss of Harbor Beach, Randy (Mary) Weiss of Harbor Beach and Son-in-law, Tony Pedrotte of Port Hope, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; sister Nancy (Ken) Osentoski of Port Hope and Sister-in-law, Lillian Schmaltz of Flint. Janet was preceded in death by her parents Esther and Edwin Schmaltz, daughter Lori Pedrotte, brothers, Howard Schmaltz and David Schmaltz and Sister-in-law, Gloria Schmaltz.

Biography

Janet R Weiss, age 79 of Port Hope passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Saint Mary’s Hospital. She was born on July 6, 1944 in Bad Axe to the late Esther (Lange) & Edwin Schmaltz. She married Rodney Weiss on October 6, 1962, they were married for 61 years. Janet was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Hope. She enjoyed spending time with family and grandkids, shopping with her daughters, cooking and baking. Janet also enjoyed the friends she made while operating the business at Forest Bay Cottages for 40 years.
