St. Clair County Sheriff's Office Storage Facility Caught Fire Thursday Morning

A fire broke out early Wednesday morning at a St. Clair County Sheriff's Office storage facility in Kimball Township.

The blaze began shortly before 4 a.m. on February 25th at the building located near St. Clair County International Airport. The facility was reportedly used to store ammunition, evidence, special response equipment and other law enforcement materials. Authorities have not yet confirmed the extent of any damage to those items.

No injuries were reported.

Fire crews had the flames under control by approximately 9 a.m., though the structure sustained heavy damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Michigan State Police, along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, are leading the inquiry.
