Single Vehicle Crash In Huron County Sends One Man To Hospital

A single-vehicle crash in Huron County sent one man to the hospital early Monday morning.
The crash happened February 24th at 6:39 a.m. on Unionville Road near Kuhl Road in Fairhaven Township.
According to the Huron County Sheriff's Office, a 2006 Acura TSX was westbound when it left the roadway to the left, entered a ditch and struck the ditch bank. The impact caused disabling damage to the vehicle.
Investigators say the 48 year old male driver told deputies he had been drinking coffee and experiencing a coughing episode before losing consciousness. He reported that when he woke up, the vehicle was in a field.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported by ambulance to Scheurer Hospital. The front airbags deployed in the crash. Alcohol and drugs were not listed as suspected factors.
Weather at the time was clear, the roadway was dry, and it was dawn. The vehicle was later towed from the scene.
