In a strategic legal maneuver, Camron James Hewens, facing felony charges of unlawful message posting and malicious telecommunications use, has opted for a quicker path through the courts. Hewins agreed to waive his preliminary examination, effectively bypassing the initial probable cause hearing.
This decision comes as part of a deal - Hewens will plead guilty to both existing felony counts at his upcoming circuit court arraignment. In exchange, prosecutors have committed not to bring any additional charges against him.
The court confirmed Hewins' understanding and voluntary agreement to this arrangement, ensuring his bond remains in place.
The case now moves directly to Circuit Court for arraignment on Monday, March 23rd, at 9 a.m., setting the stage for a swift, and largely predetermined, resolution to these serious allegations.
