Plans for boating season in the village of Port Sanilac will be presented during the 7 p.m. meeting, Tuesday, March 3 at the Bark Shanty Community Center's meeting room.

According to the preliminary agenda, Resources LLC and Harbormaster Anne Soule will do a presentation to the council, and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources waterways grant program will be reviewed.

A request for a grant for the construction of the marina facilities for $800,000 to $1 million is expected to be requested.

This latest request for funding if approved will enhance current efforts for harbor and marina improvements.

In 2025, Sanilac County received funds from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Detroit District for river projects.

The Port Sanilac Harbor received $3,475,000.

The funds will be used for maintenance as well as used for specific work activities including dredging, critical structure safety, maintenance, engineering and design for North and South breakwater repairs.
