Huron County, Mi. - On January 8, 2020 there was an application to set aside a felony conviction. The Honorable Judge Prill presiding over the hearing, granted the application of Gary Duncan Tennant.

Tennant sought to remove a felony conviction from his record, dating back to December 3, 2009.

Prosecuting Attorney Timothy J. Rutkowski represented the People of the State of Michigan. The Attorney General's Office had previously indicated Tennant's potential eligibility for this action.

Tennant confirmed completing his sentence, probation, and all financial obligations. He detailed the conviction's adverse effects on his housing, employment, and ability to engage in family activities.

The court found that the statutory time period had elapsed, Tennant had no more than three felonies, no assaultive crimes, and no pending charges. The court concluded that setting aside the conviction aligned with public welfare, citing Tennant's clear record since 2014. The felony conviction was officially set aside.
