In a Huron County Circuit Court proceeding, Jessica Lynn Lesoski was sentenced by Judge Prill, after pleading guilty to two counts of delivery of a controlled substance.
The defense highlighted Ms. Lesoski's personal struggles, including a history of mental health issues, suicide attempts, and an oppressive relationship with her husband who was identified as the mastermind behind the drug deliveries.
Her attorney requested a 28 day jail sentence to prevent the loss of her Social Security and health benefits, which are crucial due to severe migraines and a heart condition.
The prosecution noted Ms. Lesoski's presence at the deliveries and requested two years of probation. The court acknowledged Ms. Lesoski's medical and mental health concerns but emphasized accountability for her actions, stating she should have understood the consequences.
The sentence includes 24 months of probation with standard conditions, mandatory substance abuse and mental health treatment, and a no-contact order with her soon to be ex-husband. Financial penalties include $80 in restitution, $130 crime victims assessment per file, a $30 monthly probation supervision fee, $200 in court costs, and a $200 fine per file, plus $68 in state costs.
Ms. Lesoski will serve 90 days in county jail, with credit for two days served. She is ordered to report to jail on April 10th at 6 p.m. to serve an initial 28 day period, with release scheduled for May 7th. She will then report back on May 15th for an additional 28 days, with the remaining time held in abeyance pending successful probation completion.
