Funeral Information

Visitation will be Sunday, February 22, 2015, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 3-8pm. The funeral service will be Monday, February 23, 2015, at Our Lady of Consolata (Holy Family Catholic Church) in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Burial will take place privately at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Sebewaing. Memorial donations may be given to Our Lady of Consolata, Parkinson’s Association or the Disable American Veterans. John is survived by his children: Cynthia (William) Lutz, Michael (Lynn) Draschil and Debra (Kendall) Stoeckle; grandchildren: Kimberly Birch, David (Dana) Lutz, Pamela (Jon) Ramirez, John Stoeckle, Joseph Stoeckle, Kathryn Stoeckle, and Karla (Timothy) Gotham; great grandchildren: Molly and Sydney Birch, Michael and Hailey Lutz, Morgan Gotham, and Jonathon and Gracie Ramirez; siblings: Andrew Draschil and Margaret Cavanaugh. John is preceded in death by his wife, Martha; parents, Francis and Katherine Draschil; brothers: William, Nicholas, Joseph and Frank Draschil; sisters: Ann Bellan, Kay Topp, Mary Effa, Eva Long and Rose Pallach.

Biography

John Draschil, age 90, of Sebewaing, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 21, 2015, at his home. John was born at home in Sebewaing on April 25, 1924, to the late Francis and Katherine (Wojtek) Draschil. He is a United State Army veteran, serving in the Phillipine’s. On April 19, 1952, he married Martha Bernhardt at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Sebewaing. She preceded him in death on June 5, 2010. John served as the Brookfield Township Treasurer and on the Michigan Sugar Growers Board. He was a member of the Sebewaing VFW, Sebewaing American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed farming, watching all sports, golfing and ice fishing.
