Services for Larry will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 11 am at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Burial with full military honors will be in Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 2 – 8 pm or Friday from 10 am until the service time at 11 am at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered at www.kaufmanfuneralhome.com

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Jani Verga of Bad Axe. His annoying children, Larry Verga III of California and Torri Verga of Bad Axe. He will be sorely missed by Sophie Butt and Screwy Louie.

Biography

Lawrence “Larry” David Verga, Jr., age 60, of Bad Axe, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, January 1, 2023. He was born on July 11, 1962 in Flint, MI, son of the late Lawrence and Barbara (Sword) Verga, Sr. Larry married Jani Brady on September 11, 1987 in Flint. Larry was a proud member of the United States Air Force, joining immediately after he graduated from high school. Larry retired from the Michigan State Police force after 30 years. He was currently employed by the Birch Run Police Department. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and was a proud member of the Untouchables MC. Larry was the Okimaw (Leader) of the Saginaw Chippewa Anishinabe Ogtchedaw Veteran and Warrior Society. He was very involved in the traditional Native culture, participating in and organizing many events involving the local pow-wows. Larry was a very social guy, well-known and respected within the community, who will be deeply missed by family and friends alike.
