Funeral Information

Funeral Services for Alex will be Friday, June 3, 2022 at 1 pm, at Zion Lutheran Church of Harbor Beach, with Rev. Matt Durance officiating. Burial will follow in Verona Township Cemetery. Visitation for Alex will be Thursday, from 2-8pm at the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Visitation on Friday will be at the church beginning at 12 noon until time of services at 1 pm. A scripture service will take place Thursday at 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorials are asked to be given to Zion Lutheran Church. Memories can be shared at www.RamseyFH.com

Family of the Deceased

He is survived by his sister Beverly Forstner of Durand, sisters-in-law: Betty Burkhard of Bad Axe, Dorothy Burkhard of Harbor Beach, Grace Burkhard of Lansing, and many nieces and nephews. Alex was preceded in death by a son Mark Burkhard, his wife Donna Burkhard, and his siblings: Edwin, Leslie, Delbert, Robert, Roland Harold and Harley Burkhard, Emily Smith and Elaine LaBelle.

Biography

Alexander Burkhard, Jr. age 93 of Bad Axe, formerly of Harbor Beach, passed away Monday, May 30, 2022 at Meadow Lane Assisted Living, under hospice care. He was born on June 18, 1928 in Harbor Beach to the late Alexander and Edith Marie (Gerstenschlager) Burkhard. Alex served in the US Army and overseas during the Korean Conflict. He and Donna Jurgess were united in marriage on September 17, 1949 in Bad Axe. Donna preceded him in death on September 24, 2008. Alex was a lifelong Sigel Township Farmer. He was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where over the years, he held several positions including: Elder, Officer, Trustee, and usher.
