Funeral Information

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 am on Wednesday, June 29th, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Port Austin with Fr. Craig Carolan officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be 2 – 8 pm on Tuesday, June 28th at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe with a Holy Rosary Sodality at 6 pm and a Scripture service at 7pm. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 29th from 10am until time of service at the church. Please bring any memories, pictures, etc. to share with the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the family discretionary fund. Condolences can be shared at www.macalpinefuneralhome.com

Cindy is survived by her husband, Eric Sowders of Port Austin Township; daughter, Amanda Sowders (special friend Jason Wessels) of Bad Axe; brothers: Gary (Terry) Prill, Tony (Pam) Prill and Frank (Suzy) Prill; sisters: Shirley Peters, Constance Prill (special friend, Dale Hartsell), and Bonnie Prill (special friend, Kevin Goretski); nieces and nephews: Kristy, Bryan and Ryan Prill, Meghan Goretski, Robert Peters, Shawn Prill, Brianna and Brandon Prill; other special people, Diane Prill, Deanna Kidd, Grace Goretski, Zita Goebel and many, many more (too many to mention). She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Prill; sister, Marjorie Prill; nephew, Charles Prill; and brother in law, Keith Peters.

Biography

Cynthia Marie Sowders, 53, of Port Austin Township, passed away on June 25, 2016. She was born in Bad Axe on June 20, 1963 to the late Alex Jr. and Florence (Fisher) Prill. On December 31, 1990, she married Eric Sowders. They just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Cindy graduated from North Huron High School in 1981. She worked in the kitchen at the Bad Axe Public Schools. Cindy was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church/Annunciation of the Lord Parish. She enjoyed gardening, going to church, taking care of animals, and helping people. Cindy was kind and loving to everyone she met.
