Funeral services will be at 11:00am Thursday, September 28th at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Rodney Schwab officiating. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pigeon. Visitation will be 2-8pm Wednesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Elkton and one hour prior to the service on Thursday in church. Memorials may be made to the Women of Trinity. She is survived by her seven children: Dennis (Rosemary) of Tennessee, Cindy Gempel of Ohio, Patti Machowicz of Bay Port, James (Peggy) of Elkton, Gary (Lynn) of Elkton, Lynn (Dean) Mundy of Elkton and Bernie (Kelley) of Elkton; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her young daughters Mary Lynn and Karen, brother Arthur Gabert and sister Pauline Zelusky.
Dolores Mae Champagne, 85, of Elkton, died Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. Dolores was born February 17, 1932 in Owendale to the late Fred and Ella (Schweitzer) Gabert. On August 30, 1948 she married Cletus A. Champagne in Wilmot; he preceded her in death March 12, 1978. She drove school bus for Lakers Schools for 29 years, retiring in 1997. She was an active member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church and formed good friendships with the other Women of Trinity. She enjoyed sewing, puzzles and reading with her cherished dog Mick nearby.
