Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, February 21, at Community Wesleyan Church, Elkton. Rev. Ean Green, pastor and Rev. Randy H Diebel (grandson), pastor of Church of Christ, Cincinnati, OH will officiate with burial in Grant Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 2 to 8 PM, Friday and after 10am Saturday. Surviving are her husband, Harold; children, Jean (Randy) Diebel of Gagetown, Wayne (Brenda) Cummings of Mio, Connie (Jeff) Wills of Gagetown and Kathy (Pete) Gamet of Gagetown; grandchildren, Jackie (Ryan) Guigar, Randy (Laura) Diebel, Trent (Emily) Willis, Nicole, Andrea & Megan Willis, Amber, Joshua, Jacob & AJ Gamet and Sarah & Harold Cummings; great grandchildren, Cody, Lindsey, Grace, Nathan, Luke and Christian; her sister, Wanda (Carl) Binder of Verona and sister-in-law, Sharon Cummins of Grant Twp. Preceding her in death were three brothers & spouses, Verl (Amy) Sparling, Doyle (Willie) Sparling and Bud (Dorothy) Sparling; a sister & husband, Marilyn (Norman) Englemann; in-laws, Margaret (Lawrence) Summers and Donald Cummins and baby, Nancy Cummings.
Doris J Cummings, age 82 of Grant Twp. pass away Tuesday afternoon, February 17, at her home while under hospice care with her family at her side. She was born August 20, 1932, in Bad Axe to the late Roy and Nellie (Style) Sparling, the youngest of six children. Doris grew up in Bad Axe and graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1952. On October 4, 1952, she was united in marriage to Harold C Cummings at the First Baptist Church, Bad Axe and made their home on a farm in Grant Twp. For most of her younger years, Doris helped on the farm in the fields and with barn chores. She also took care of family in the area and worked with Heartland hospice as a home health aide. They are members of the Community Wesleyan Church, Elkton. Doris had taught Sunday school many years and had been very active in her church. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, knitting, canning and spending time with family and friends.
