Funeral services for Elmer will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe with Layspeaker, Mel McCracken officiating. Burial will take place later at Marquardt Cemetery in Port Hope. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the funeral home and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Elmer is survived by his wife, Doris of Bad Axe; his brother, Frederick Scherret of Deckerville; mother-in-law, Bonnie J. Perry; brothers-in-law: Red (Kathy) Perry of Alabama, Donald Perry of Palm Beach, Florida, and William (Brenda) Perry of Sandusky; sisters-in-law, Cookie Manns of Leesberg, Georgia and Linda (Steve) Hogan of Jacksonville, Florida; and many nieces and nephews, including William Scherret and Ronald (Lynda) Scherret, both of Port Hope and Deborah (Mike) Scherret Lemuel of Lincoln Park. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Wilbert, Willet, and Edwin; his father-in-law, Lloyd H. Perry and many aunts and uncles. Elmer just lost his special dog, Sparky and his cat, Blacky in October; just four days apart from each other.
Elmer E. Scherret, 80, of Bad Axe passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Covenant Medical Center in Saginaw. He was born on November 16, 1938 in Huron Township to the late Frederick and Agnes (Zick) Scherret. Elmer was married to this first wife, Virginia, who passed away on March 24, 1975; he married his second wife, Bonnie, who passed away on February 8, 1995. He then married Doris Powell on December 21, 2005. Elmer had been employed by General Motors Chevrolet in Flint. He also worked at Walmart and Kroger in Lincoln Park and at Walmart in Bad Axe. He also was employed at Michigan Sugar Beet Company. He enjoyed gardening and canning with his wife; taking care of his lawn, hunting for deer and he loved to play Euchre with his family and friends.
