Funeral Information

Emma wanted her body donated to science like her husband Jerry. She will spend a year at Wayne State University then a cremation will take place at that time. The family is planning a memorial service for Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the Huron Expo Center in Bad Axe. A small scripture service will be conducted between 2:00 and 2:30 p.m. All who knew Emma are welcome to attend between 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Arrangements by the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe.

Family of the Deceased

Surviving are her nine children, Charles (Linda) Martin, Debbie (Brian) Soltis, Will (Leann Chappel) Martin, Frank (Cindy) Martin, Tom (Dee) Martin, Jerry (Donna) Berger, Genny (John Maurer) Berger, Lori (Rick) Koroleski, and Mike (Teri) Berger. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Mark (Renee) Donegan, Jeff Donegan, Charles (Cheri) Martin Jr., Melonie (Todd) Walker, Candace Martin, Brittney Martin, Matthew Large, Jerry Berger III, Angela (Warren Martin) Berger, Heather Berger, Crystal Berger, Charity Berger, Kyle Beaudin, Staci Martin, Jake Martin, Nicole (Scott) Hagan, Richard Koroleski Jr., Matthew Koroleski, and Tayler Berger. She has one surviving brother, Thomas Wentworth. She is also survived by many great and great-great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews, 3 brother-in-laws, and 1 sister-in-law.

Biography

Emma Dora Berger, 81, passed away on November 20, 2014 at her home of natural causes. She was born April 24, 1933 in Madison Heights, Michigan, daughter of the late Charles and Emma Wentworth. She was united in marriage to Jerry Lee Berger on December 7, 1963. He preceded her in death on August 18, 1995. Emma was a beloved foster grandma for 20 plus years working at the Harbor Beach Community Schools, Bad Axe Public Schools and just recently the Kinde Public Schools. Emma enjoyed working every day with all the littley ones. In her free time, she loved to crochet and visit with friends and family.
