Gertrude is survived by six children: Joseph (Ardis), Ronald (Patricia), Robert (Patricia), Lawrence (Dick) (Kathleen), Dennis, and Joanne (Michael) Grasso all of Bad Axe. 13 grandchildren; Ursula Schenk, Stephen (Amii)Schenk, Rhonda (Brian) Wisenbaugh, Shannon (Josh) Torres, Aaron Schenk (Shannon Augle), Ryan (Laura) Schenk, James (Tracey) Schenk, Tina Hind, and Tammy (Jim) Hunt, Denise and Tracy Schenk, Kimberly Schenk, and Danielle McKimmy; 10 great grandchildren; Joseph, Christian, Trevor, Brianna, Ashley (Zachary), Brandi, Austin, Jaelynn, Owen, Even, Amanda, Holly, Rayleigh, and Delany; 3 nieces; Nancy Humphrey, Lu Toner, and Lisa Gusa. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lula Toner, her Husband, Daniel Joseph, one Granddaughter and one Great Grandson, her sisters, Georgina Running and Edna Weaver and a niece, Linda Klemmer.
Gertrude (Gert) Toner Schenk, age 95, passed away June 8, 2018 at Huron Medical Care Facility. She was the second of three daughters born to William and Lula (Hall) Toner on December 12, 1922 in Lincoln Township. She married Daniel Joseph (Joe) Schenk on July 25, 1943. She worked in retail sales at Dibble's Mill End, S&H, and Quality Farm and Fleet Stores. She loved to dance and was a long-time president of the Bad Axe Senior Dance Club; and a volunteer at the Sandusky Senior Dance Club where she made many friends. Gert has been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bad Axe all her adult years. She loved being surrounded by her family and seeing them having fun. Gert was loved and is remembered by anyone that knew her and everyone will miss her smile!
