She is survived by her son Tom of Arizona and daughter Janice (Terry) Hawke of Walled Lake; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and step-sister Virginia Ackerman. She was preceded in death by her sons Douglas and Richard and her sister Fern Bowling.
Jean Elizabeth Hostetler, 98, of Elkton died Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Maple Manor in Novi. Jean was born December 20, 1918 in Elkton to the late Mose and Bertha (Miller) Herford. She graduated from Elkton High School. She married Lloyd “Butch†Hostetler on June 2, 1940; he preceded her in death on March 11, 1991. Jean lived in Ferndale from 1946 until moving to Elkton in 1981, she worked for 15 years as a secretary at Beaumont Hospital before retiring in 1980. Upon retiring she enjoyed traveling the world with numerous trips to far off places, spending winters in Florida, and listening to gospel and country music. She was an active member of Elkton United Methodist Church. Over the years she had been a foster mother to over 100 children.
