The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon, with Pastor Brian Johnson officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to donor’s choice of charity or Leader Dogs for the Blind. Memories may be shared online at MeyersieckBussemaFuneralHome.com A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Shepherd Funeral Home in Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Family of the Deceased

He leaves behind his wife, Marla Jo Anderson, with whom he just celebrated 35 years of marriage; daughters, Ashley Jo Anderson and Alexandra Marie Anderson; brother Charles “Chuck” Anderson and his wife Sue; sister Karen Elsesser and her husband Jim; and many nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister-in-law, and a niece.

Biography

John W. Anderson, 67, passed away unexpectedly on June 27, 2015 in Canada while on a hunting trip. Born in Pigeon on July 27, 1947, he was the son of J. Wayne and Lois L. (Henne) Anderson and graduated from Laker High School and Michigan State University. John held a Master’s Degree in Education Administration and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. John was proud to serve in the Army for 28 years and retired as a Lt. Colonel. He taught school and was also a Principal with the Owosso School system. He then worked for Case IH for many years in Racine, Wisconsin, then returned to Michigan where he was a Manufacturers Representative as well as shareholder for Huron Castings. John loved his family and hunting. He especially enjoyed helping his brother Chuck taking the crops off in the fall.
