Guza and Emma M. Kappler Guza, in Gladwin, MI. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Navy and was stationed at Memphis, TN. On March 5, 1948, John married Dessie Delores Bryant, and to that union were born their three children, Karoll, Gretchen, and John B. (Jack). On April 21, 1995, John married Joy Ann Hunt, and they shared seventeen wonderful years together. John was an avid outdoorsman who owned and operated Verona Gun Shop for many years. As a young man, he was employed at Fairmont Foods, in Bad Axe. John worked in various skilled trades throughout his life. His last position was with the State of Michigan as a power plant operator. John deeply loved his family, who knew they could find him working on a project in his barn, often with good friend, Ron McGeachy. He took pride in his ability to repair just about anything. A man of many talents, John created unique wood-constructed pieces, many of which he gave to family and friends, and was always willing to lend a hand when needed.
