Funeral Information

Services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 11 am at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Kinde. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Loree and Rev. Mark Elliott. Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe on Friday from 1-8 pm, or Saturday at the church from 10 am. until the service time at 11 am.

CA. 1 sister- Elaine Crawford of Tucson, AZ 2 grandchildren-Amber (Quincy) Backen of Jamestown, ND & Ariel (Colin) Phillips of Port Angeles, WA 3 great grandchildren-Kai Backen of Jamestown, ND, Kale Backen of Jamestown, ND & Luke Phillips of Port Angeles, WA Predeceased by: 2 infant brothers-Eugene and James Newell

Biography

Larry R. Newell, age 74 of Bad Axe, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw. He was born on August 27, 1938 in Mummasburg, Pennsylvania, son of the late Franklin and Beulah (Bean) Newell. He married Grace Schuman on June 27, 1959 in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Kinde. Larry was the owner of the former Larry's Outdoor Power in Bad Axe. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Kinde, where he served as an elder. He was a member of the Thumb Area Antique Car Club and the Verona Hills Golf Club where he enjoyed to golf. He served in the US Air Force.
