Funeral Information

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 AM Saturday April 20, at Cross Lutheran Church, Pigeon. Rev. Timothy Larhke, pastor, will officiate with burial in Caseville Township Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton, MI from 2 PM to 8 PM Friday, April 19, and at the church after 10:30 AM Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cross Lutheran Church or Bluewater Thumb Youth for Christ. Words of condolences may be shared at www.cfcElkton.com. The family wishes to thank the many healthcare providers who provided compassionate care for her during the later years including: Dr. Laurie Hanselman DO, Dr. Nikolai Kinachtchouk, MD, Danielle Duncan, MD, St. Mary’s Medical Center, Alpha and Omega Home Health Care, Schuerer Health Network, and especially, the staff of Country Gardens.

Family of the Deceased

Surviving are her husband Fred; six children, Bradd (Joan) Chisholm, Saginaw, Susan (Neil) Volant of Westwood, NJ, Lori Remick, of Social Circle, GA, Amy Erickson of Cumming, GA, Bryan (MaryJo) Chisholm, of Rockford and Dan (Shannon) Chisholm of Social Circle, GA; thirteen grandchildren; Amanda (Mike) Cress, Evan (Elizabeth) Chisholm, Jason (Yvonne) Noggle, Mia Volant, Ali Volant, Amy Remick, Haley Erickson, Hannah Erickson, Eric Chisholm, Alexis Chisholm, Andrew Chisholm, Ashley (Jordon) Flores, Eric Standridge and three great grandchildren; two brothers and their spouses, Robert (Joyce) Smith of Pigeon and J. Sidney (Kay) Smith of Bay Port and her sister-in-law, Mary Smith of Pigeon. Preceding her in death were two brothers and a sister-in-law, William and Grace Smith and John W. Smith.

Biography

Lois L. Chisholm age 86 of Pigeon, died Tuesday evening, April 16, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Saginaw, MI. She was born November 13, 1926, at the home of her parents, the late James and Grace (Bradd) Smith in McKinley Township. On March 13, 1953, she was united in marriage to Frederick J. Chisholm at Hayes United Methodist Church. Together with her husband, with whom she recently celebrated 60 years of marriage, lived and raised their family in Pigeon. Lois worked as an operator for Michigan Bell, worked for Firestone Corporation and at Hamill Manufacturing, Bad Axe, MI, prior to her retirement. She was a member of Cross Lutheran Church. She enjoyed china painting, learning the art and studying with the renowned Gladys Galloway. Lois taught china painting classes to many people in the thumb area. Her home was opened to many foreign exchange students from 1960 – 1982 from countries including the Middle East, Asia and Scandinavia some of whom attended or graduated from Laker High School. She also enjoyed sewing and cooking and teaching these hobbies to local 4H students.
