Biography

BARD, Lucille Elizabeth (Hindman) – of Bad Axe, age 86, passed away August 23, 2016 at Scheurer Long Term Care Facility in Pigeon, MI. Lucille was born on July 27, 1930 in Ohio. She was adopted by Margaret and Waldo Hindman of Miami, FL in 1934. Lucille grew up in Florida. She lived there until she met and married her husband to be, Martin Ben Bard. He was stationed at the naval base in Key West. They were married in Miami on May 28, 1949. They lived in Norfolk, VA and Spartanburg, SC while Ben was in the service. Lucille spent the next 20 years in the Flint area and then moved to Bad Axe in 1970. She loved the Lord more than anything. Lucille studied to become a Lay Minister in the Catholic Church. From that, she reached out to her community in many capacities. If she believed she was called she went and worked hard for Him. Lucille did mission work in the Appalachian Mountains in Kentucky and upon returning to Bad Axe she served in the Forgotten Man Ministry as the women’s chaplain at the Huron County Jail. She did this for seven years until she retired.
