Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am, Saturday, April 21 at St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Isidore Parish in Parisville. Rev. Todd Arnberg, pastor will officiate. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Friday from 1:30- 9:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00-11:00 am at St. Mary Church. There will be a St. Isidore Men’s Club rosary Friday evening at 7:00 pm. Memorials have been requested to the Family Discretionary Fund. Mark is survived by his wife, Colleen Kubacki of Ubly; three daughters, Kylee Kubacki of Ubly, Chelsey (Derek) Robson of Lake Orion, Hailey Kubacki of Ubly; two sisters, Joyce (Michael) Messing of Ubly, Annette (Harvey) Klee of Ruth; one brother, Michael (Ann) Kubacki of Ubly; mother-in-law, Marion Schefka; five brothers-in-law, Kurt (Linda) Schefka, Randy Schefka and his special friend, Jackie Thornton-Reda, Bruce (Val) Schefka, Rick (Tammy) Schefka, Chad (Kelli) Schefka; many nieces and nephews, , Greg Messing, Paul (Theresa) Messing, Chris (Tracy) Messing, Nick (Kari) Messing, Brad (Jenn) Klee, Marsha (Don) McDonald, Dan (Jolene) Klee, Jill (T.J.) Uhrich, Katie (Matt) Maurer, Jared Kubacki, Becky (Jeff) Martus, Danielle (Craig) Buschmann, Justin Schefka, Taylor Schefka, Samantha Schefka, Abby Schefka, Jenna Schefka, Sydney Schefka, Brody Schefka, Ben Schefka, Nick Schefka. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, LaVerne “Verne†Schefka, one brother-in-law, Keith Schefka.
Mr. Mark J. Kubacki, 56 of Ubly, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak after a courageous battle with cancer. Mark was born on March 19, 1962 in Bad Axe to the late Clemens and Evelyn (Zurek) Kubacki. He married Colleen Schefka on August 27, 1983. Mark was a 1980 graduate of Ubly High School. He attended Delta College and received his Associate Degree in Residential Construction Technology. He worked at Chinoski construction for a few years starting in 1982. In March of 1984, Mark began working and was currently employed at Tower International Automotive (formerly Active) where he was a Union steward for several years. Mark was the owner and operator of M.J. Construction, a business he started in 1986. Mark had many joys in his life. He loved residential building. He enjoyed attending his daughter’s sporting events and even donned a Tiger costume for a state finals game. He liked refereeing football games, golfing, playing cards and tipping a few back with his friends around the bon fire. Mark enjoyed cruising and always made sure to always get away with Colleen as they traveled from Florida and all over the US. He loved a slaw dog from Disney. Mark cherished time spent with his loving family and friends.
