She is survived by her children David (Mary Jo) LaPorte of Chicago, Lisa (Bob) York of Caro, Brian Gilkerson of Marlette, Vincent (Lisa) Gilkerson of Caseville and Amy (Leo) Sander of Shelby Twp; grandchildren Michelle, Lischelle, Alanna, Codi, Erica, Donovan (Tori), Cassidy, Jenna, Sean and Aaron and 7 great-grandchildren; brothers Peter (Kay) Gall of Caseville, John (Lynn) Cowan of Avoca and sister Dorothy (Bob) Body of Sterling Heights; sisters-in-law Bette Gall of Georgia and Bev Gall of Orion; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Don and Robert Gall and great-grandson Niklaus Newland.

Biography

Mary Jean Carolan, 74, of Caseville, died Saturday, January 14, 2017 at United Hospice Residence in Marlette. Mary was born August 20, 1942 in Emmett to the late Gerald and Elizabeth (Schuster) Cowan. She graduated from Yale High School. She married Gary Carolan on November 1, 1986 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marlette. He preceded her in death on October 6, 2012. Mary was a hard worker her entire life; she retired from L&L Products in Romeo. In 1991 she moved from Marlette to Caseville, while spending winters in LaBelle, Florida. She was a member of the Caseville Eagles Auxiliary and LaBelle Moose. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, annual fishing trips with her L&L buddies. She was an outspoken people person, who loved practical jokes and had a great time throughout her lifetime. It was very seldom you were ever find her without her infectious smile.
