Funeral Information

The funeral service for Mary will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 12 at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Rev. Brian Poe of Eastpointe will officiate. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the service at 1:00 pm. Memorials have been requested to the American Cancer Society, Please make any donations to the family out to Mary’s husband, Victor. Family of the Deceased

Mary is survived by her husband of 45 years, Victor Hernalsteen of Ubly; two daughters, Cyndi Langlan and her husband, Jay of Bad Axe, Denise Goodier and her husband, Kent of Warren; two sons, Scott Hernalsteen and his wife, Veronica of Clinton Twp., Ryan Hernalsteen and his wife, Toni of Traverse City; 20 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister, Margaret Henry and her husband, James; one brother, Richard Pistole. She was preceded in death by three sons, Gene, Victor Jr. and Mark Steele; three brothers, Abe, Dares and Ed Pistole.

Biography

Mrs. Mary E. Hernalsteen, 76 of Ubly, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at her home after a short illness. She was born on April 4, 1941 in Detroit to the late Edgar and Margaret (Howard) Pistole. She married Victor Hernalsteen on November 29, 1971 in Mt. Clemens. Mary graduated from Macomb Community College with an Associates Degree is nursing and became a registered nurse. She worked for various nursing homes for many years. Mary worked at Courtney Manor as Director of Nursing for a few years before retiring in 2001.
