A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 11 am at the United Protestant Church in Port Austin. Officiating will be Rev. Nancy Bitterling, pastor. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10 am until the service time at 11 am. Memorials may be offered to the United Protestant Church or the Port Austin Historical Society. Nancy is survived by 2 Sons- Tim (Cathy) McGrath of Harbor Beach and Chris (Amy) McGrath of Port Hope. 1 Daughter-Sandra Ann Merrill of Saginaw. 5 Grandchildren. 10 Great-grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by: Son-Dave McGrath. Brother-George Clark.

Biography

Nancy A. Thurston, age 82, of Port Austin, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Harbor Beach Community Hospital-Lakeview Extended Care. Nancy was born on September 26, 1934 in Saginaw, daughter of the late G. Edwin and Lois June (Hamather) Clark. Nancy graduated from Saginaw High School and Delta College. She worked for Blue Care Network, then retiring from AAA auto Insurance. After retiring, she moved to Port Austin and owned “Grandma’s Market” for a few years. She was involved with the Port Austin Historical Society and the United Protestant Church. She enjoyed reading, knitting and sewing. Her best friend was her cat “Charlie”.
