Biography

Robert P. Maurer, age 87, of Filion, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon. He was born on June 15, 1928 in Rapson, son of the late John P. and Caroline (Sebastian) Maurer. He married Selma Ulfig on October 7, 1958. They were married 64 years. Bob served in the US Army from 1951-1953. He farmed his family’s farm all of his life. He ran a family-operated livestock trucking business over 20 years. He was employed at United Producers for over 50 years, and very much looked forward to his Tuesdays at the stockyard. When he wasn’t working, he could be found hanging out with the boys at the Kinde Co-op, catching up on the latest news from the area. He enjoyed hunting, riding his four-wheeler, and spending time with his family.
