Vera is survived by three children: Dr. Rebecca Beach of Traverse City, John (Pam) Beach of Palm Harbor, Florida, Martha (Bill) Trubilowicz of Charlevoix, and three very special grandchildren: Dr. Joel Trubilowicz (Amy), Anna-Kate Trubilowicz, and Brian Beach. Vera was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John “Jack” Beach; her sisters: Margarete Thede, Orabelle Murdoch, and Mildred Curcia and her brothers, Kenneth Beck and Howard Beck. Their loss made her sad, but she liked that her many nieces and nephews crowned her the Beck Family Matriarch. She will be missed by all.
Vera Catherine (Beck) Beach, age 96, of Pigeon passed peacefully Friday June 17, 2016. Vera was born in Sebewaing on July 1, 1919 to Wilber Beck and Martha (Eichler) Beck. She graduated from Sebewaing High School, which was quite an accomplishment in the 1930’s. She then took a job as a dining room maid at a mansion in Grosse Pointe. After the war she married John “Jack” Beach. His work took their family from state to state for several years, but they were able to return home - to Pigeon. She was a member of the Pigeon Methodist Church where she served on many committees. Her church provided her a strong spiritual foundation and offered her many lifelong friendships. She felt fortunate to have her Camelot Lane neighbors, and she treasured the staff of Scheurer Hospital. She retired from the Pigeon Post Office. Vera often said, “I lived a good life.” She took pride in all aspects of that life. She bubbled with pride when anyone mentioned her grandchildren. She and Jack worked hard to ensure their children started their lives (away from home) with the foundation of a college education. She was proud when that happened. Vera was also passionate about her flower gardens. If you were lucky enough to know her, you were the recipient of her “bulb separation” projects. Her legacy lives on in many of the gardens around Pigeon. Every spring we’ll see her come back to life as her treasured iris or lily. Yes, she lived a good life.
