Vera is survived by her children: Gary (Rebecca) Deering of Cass City, Ruth (Fred) Spencer of Atkin, SC, Rose Mary Bullock of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren: Amanda (Robert) Puritt, Diedra Deering, Brad (Lorie) Bullock, Nan Horest; 6 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Roe of Pigeon; brother-in-law, Ernie Haag of Flint; sister-in-law, Lillian Kohl of Colorado Springs, CO; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by brothers: Roland Kohl, Floyd Kohl, Bob Kohl, Kenneth Kohl, Henry Kohl, Walt Kohl; sisters: Goldie Haag, Stella Arthur, Florence Haag, Helen Warner.

Family of the Deceased

Memorial service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City. Interment will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Thumb Animal Shelter. Biography

Vera M. Deering, 98, of Cass City, died Saturday May 2, 2015 in Heritage Hill Assisted Living, Caro. She was born August 2, 1916 in Bay Port the fourth of twelve children born to Henry and Fannie (Steckley) Kohl. She married Edward Deering in 1935 in Elkton. He died July 12, 1992. Vera attended Quarry Country School between Bay Port and Pigeon through the 6th grade. She was raised in a family of hardworkers. Many stories can be told about which of the twelve children worked the hardest. Vera was very talented at interior design and helped with the redecorating of many residential homes. She loved feeding the humming birds and kept a journal of when they arrived each spring and left each fall. Vera loved working in her flower gardens. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Cass City.
