A memorial service will take place on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 1pm at the United Methodist Church in Port Hope. Internment will follow in Port Hope Cemetery. Friends may gather at the church beginning at 12 noon until time of services at 1pm. Arrangements are being handled by the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Family of the Deceased

Virginia is survived by her son Frederick W, and his wife, Cathy. She was preceded in death by her first husband J. Franklin Renter and her second husband, Carl A. Renter as well as her son Carl J. Jr. and daughter Christine S. Bryce and three brothers Frank, Joseph and Robert Butler. Virginia was the oldest of six children, two sisters still remaining, Mary Jane Masinick and Gladys Chappell. Virginia leaves 5 grandchildren, Karen Gust (husband Christopher) Dewayne G. Gilbert, Carl J. Renter (wife Katie), Elizabeth M. Bright (husband Kyle) and Claire V. Renter; 6 great grandchildren, Joseph R. Gust (wife Jennifer) Kylie K. Gust, Colin C. Gust, Ashley A. Gilbert, Grant A. Gilbert and Frederick T. Renter; and 2 great-great grandchildren, Roman J. C. Cavaness and Maezie C. Gust. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.

Biography

Virginia Renter, age 96 of Port Hope, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018 at Meadow Lane Assisted Living in Bad Axe, Under Hospice care. Virginia was born on June 28, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan, the oldest daughter of Gladys and Joseph Butler, who emigrated from Sheffield, England. Virginia’s greatest joy was working for 45 years side by side with her husband of 56 years, Rev. Carl A. Renter. She enjoyed her church work over the years singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, directing the Children’s Choir and Vacation Bible School, being active in women’s activities and helping with confirmation activities. Virginia worked at Michigan Mutual Liability Corp., Traveler’s Insurance, Valparaiso Indiana Hospital and Whirlpool Corp. until her retirement.
