Sandusky Swears In A School Resource Officer

Students and staff in Sandusky have a new law enforcement officer working with them inside the school district.
The Sandusky Police Department has welcomed Officer Scott McCanham as its new School Resource Officer.
McCanham comes to the position with more than 30 years of law enforcement experience and will work directly with students, teachers, administrators and parents.
As the district's School Resource Officer, McCanham's responsibilities will extend beyond responding to potential safety concerns. The position is also intended to build relationships between students and law enforcement, provide a familiar police presence in the schools and work with district officials to maintain a safe learning environment.
School Resource Officers can also serve as a resource for students and staff on issues involving school safety, crime prevention and interactions with law enforcement.
Sandusky Police say McCanham's decades of experience and background in public service will be an asset as he begins his new assignment serving the school community.
