A Candidate for Tuscola District Judge Withdraws From Race

Political choices to fill Tuscola County's 71-B District judge position just became easier.

According to Tuscola Clerk Jody Fetting, prospective candidate Craig S. Datz announced he is withdrawing as a candidate for the judgeship.

Datz is an associate attorney at Piper Legal, and he is a 2007 graduate of Vassar High School.

He is encouraging his supporters to vote for Bitzer as he is "the right person for this important job contour serving the county in this important position."

His withdrawal leaves incumbent Jason E. Bitzer as the lone candidate at this time.

Bitzer was appointed as Tuscola District Judge in 2019 by Governor Gretchen Whitmer and is currently seeking re-election.
