Cass City Creating a Series on Police Department Officers

Cass City started a new program of introducing residents to the village's police officers who protect them.
The plan is to feature each of the department's officers by providing a brief background on each of them to help the community put a face to the name.
The first bi-weekly feature is about Police Chief Jim Freeman.
He is a four-year United States Army veteran, who began his law enforcement career in 1998 with the village of Mayville and worked part time in Cass City.
He has also served as an officer in the village of Reese and as an investigator for the Tuscola County Prosecutor's Office in the Domestic Violence Unit.
In March of 2012, Freeman accepted a full-time position with the Cass City Police Department. Since joining the department full time, Freeman has held the position of sergeant, deputy chief, and became chief of police in 2022.
He and his wife have been part of the community for 28 years.
