Ubly Purchased Former Masonic Hall

One way to address a blight issue in a community, is to purchase it, fix it up, and demolish it.
The Ubly Village Council approved purchasing the former Masonic Hall, which has been vacant for several years.
The hall, which is located on the corner of Main Street and Washington Street, was bought by the village for $26,000 including closing costs.
To go along with that, the council approved spending $35,000 to have the asbestos removed from the building.
In November, 2021, the council discussed the possibility of purchasing the Masonic building and demolishing it to create a "clear-vision" intersection because the structure is considered to be a traffic hazard.
Because of the building, motorists are forced to pull out farther than they can safely in order to see around the building to check for traffic.
No action was taken on suggestion from five years ago. At this month's meeting, buying the building and having it razed was approved.
