Fairgrove Fire Department Buys Protective Gloves with Grant Funds

Twice a year the Tuscola Community Foundation awards thousands of dollars in grants from various foundations to be used on projects in the county.
The foundation awarded the Fairgrove Fire Department a grant that will be used to equip firefighters.
Using the grant from the Janks Foundation, the fire department purchased extrication gloves that are specifically designed to protect firefighters during vehicle extrication and rescue operations.
The gloves provide protection from sharp and jagged metal, broken glass, pinch points, and other hazards encountered while using hydraulic rescue tools and working around damaged vehicles.
The grant was also used to purchase structural firefighting gloves when entering or working around a structure fire.
The gloves are designed to protect the hands from extreme heat, flames, hot surfaces, sharp objects, and other hazards found during interior firefighting operations.
