Reese Schools Ban Electric Devices

The Reese Public School District joined the growing list of schools who banned electronic devices in the classroom.
With the new cell phone law in place, Reese Public School District, like all schools in the state, adopted a new wireless device policy.
The policy does not allow phones during instructional time for all students.
High school students can have their phones during lunch, but kindergarten through eighty-grade students cannot have their phone at any point during the school day, explained Superintendent Jordan Ackerman.
However, there are exceptions which include:
Medical needs: Devices that are medically necessary, such as continuous glucose monitors for health conditions like Type 1 diabetes.
Instructional design: Devices explicitly designated by the school district for specific learning purposes.
Special education: Devices used for special education programming or mandated accommodations under an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Section 504 plan.
Teacher discretion: Lesson-specific academic assignments permitted with limited choice of the classroom teacher.
Emergencies: Genuine emergency situations aligned with official school or district emergency response protocols.
